- 2 cups rolled oats (not instant)
- 6 green apples (you can also add plums and pears if you have them on hand)
- 1 1/2 cups soaked walnuts (almonds, sunflower seeds, or pumpkin seeds work as well)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 TBS butter or coconut oil
Soak raw walnuts in filtered water for eight hours or overnight at room temperature before using. Rinse and refrigerate soaked nuts until ready to use.
In a baking pan, mix well the oats, chopped apples, soaked nuts, and melted butter or coconut oil. Spread evenly in the pan and bake at 300 F until the apples are soft and the oats are golden. Mix the ingredients in the pan once in a while for even baking. When done, sprinkle with cinnamon and let cool down. Keep the baked oats in a glass jar in the fridge once they are completely cooled. This makes for a delicious and aromatic breakfast. Serve as is or splashed with your favorite milk.
