- one container of mozzarella balls or one mozzarella log (about 8 oz)
- 10-15 cherry tomatoes
- fresh basil leaves
- extra-virgin olive oil (about 1/4 of a cup)
- unrefined salt & freshly ground pepper to taste
- sumac (optional)
- olives (optional, to garnish)
Pour the olive oil on a serving dish and sprinkle it with salt, pepper, and sumac (if using). Cut the mozzarella balls in half and place them on the dish, making sure that they are coated in the seasoned oil. Cut the cherry tomatoes in half. Place a basil leave on top of the mozzarella and the halved tomatoes on top of the basil. Stick toothpicks through the tomatoes all the way to the bottom of the mozzarella to hold everything in place. This will be messy, so have some napkins ready.
